I've been having fun with crashes recently, both with Blackdown JDK and the IBM JDK, while building up the ROrca interface. It's just not stable for me, and my lack of grokking the intimate details of lazy evaluation is not helping. Brushing works, though, which is nice. I need a bit more stability before I get the "data add/change" features in line, though. Anyway, other than the above report, I'm requesting information regarding stability of Swing components for both IBM and Sun JVMs under Linux. Any reports or anecdotal information would be welcome, I'm curious mostly as to whether I need to evaluate Sun's Linux JVM, or whether it is time to bite the bullet and write the small bit of code (example is nicely documented, thanks Duncan!) to embed R in Orca. Also, with respect to R within Java, has anyone gotten the example script to work? I'm getting the following:

and then it pegs my CPU at 100%, "accepts" input in the loose sense (I can type, but never get a response). Or should I be firing it up in another way? best, -tony
