NIR spectroscopy analysis - R-help

I am interested in learning how to deal with NIR spectrum data.  The
sort of data is referred to in

Statistical aspects of near infrared spectroscopy 
by J. W. McNicol and I. A. Cowe

Any pointers to ways of doing this sort of analysis in R are welcome.
