This are absolutely essential for developing countries were people may
not have their own computer online and no easy way to split on MS (I
believe).
The Windows binaries now come split into 6 floppies, so for Windows this
is not an issue. Peter was discussing the sources: are source users
needed to transfer on floppies? They need to get hold of the sources
first, so it must be a question of transferring.
Yes of course. I know. I was referring to people who only have access
through a MS Windows servers for internet but work on Linux. Of
course, some MS Windows users requiring floppies will be excluded from
access to source code, a foundation of R, if the split source is no
longer available.
