Hello, Is it possible to request for a package to be removed/archived from CRAN? I have two packages CRAN that are essentially the same project, but they have different names. I want to remove the old one, the one that has the incorrect name. The package I want to have removed/archived is called "ACDC" ( https://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/ACDC/index.html ) Would be great if anyone has some advice on how to proceed Best regardsBj?rn Tore Kopperud

The policy implies it should be possible:
Packages will not normally be removed from CRAN: however, they may be archived, including at the maintainer?s request.
I think you need to contact CRAN at R-project.org to ask for the archival.
Best regards, Ivan

For the records: Names are presistent on CRAN, therefore please decide very carefully before the initial submission about the name. CRAN generally does not allow for name changes (and maybe we did not spot it for the case at hand).

Yes, please write to CRAN at ... and also mention the name for the replacement package in the same message. Best, Uwe Ligges
