[R-pkg-devel] Transferring a package to a new maintainer

Dear all,

I'm going to transfer the pim package on CRAN to a new maintainer, but I'm not entirely certain how I'd go about this best. Do I submit the package with the updated DESCRIPTION file, or can they do that? Is there any other instance I need to inform in another way?

Kind regards
Joris Meys

Dear Joris,

I would suggest that you change the maintainer in DESCRIPTION and describe
the change in cran-comments.md in the package root. When the new maintainer
submits a new version to CRAN, you will get an email asking you to confirm
the change. At least that's what I recall when changing the maintainer
email address in a package.

Best regards,

Thierry

The new maintainers submits a new version (increased version number,
updated maintainer information in the DESCRIPTION file).
You (/the old maintainer) will be automatically asked to confirm the
submission once the update passes incoming checks.

A related question.

The same maintainer, but a new email address. Instruction said need an
email from the
old address to confirm changing to the new email... (but I lost access to
the old email account).

I guess the question is how do I prove I am the same person
when I lost the old email account (even with same first and last name)?

Try to update package ELYP

best,

Mai Zhou
