updating R packages with r2u

Hi Facundo,Thanks for your reply. I must explain that they are two entirely different Ubuntu systems with different packages (there may be a few packages in common). What I have shown is the result of updating packages on Rstudio. Rstudio has chosen the list in both the cases. I am not sure, but the two cases have probably been done on separate dates. If I do it today, the lists will be different. In the latter case (with "Fetched 0 B"), the same packages will turn up because they have not been updated. From the beginning, they have not been updated. In the former case, the list will most definitely be different, because the updating works every time.
When I update Ubuntu, the installation of R packages via r-cran-mgcv etc seems to happen without any protests.
I hope that I have given a good picture of my problem.Cheers, Ravi

Hi Ravi,

The list of packages that you try to install in the two systems is
different. Only 3 of the long list get installed in the first system,
while nothing gets installed in the second.

Are you sure you do not already have all those packages installed in the
second system? That would explain that your command does not install
anything, simply because it is not necessary.

Best
