The PAckages Do not Work in Ubuntu

We need some more information in order to be helpful.

Which version of Ubuntu?
i386 or amd64?
What mirror are you using in your sources.list?

I had no problem installing R 2.9.0 on a fresh jaunty install, so a 
little more information is needed.

Dear All,

I installed R with the commands

 sudo apt-get update
 sudo apt-get install r-base
 sudo apt-get install r-base-dev

But when I try install.packages() to install the package rimage it does
not work. Please let me know what should I do?
