malformed Release files on CRAN for Ubuntu

OK, I believe the problem has been fixed. It will be until the mirrors are re-synced before everyone sees the changes. For some reason, the permissions on some of the files (Packages and Packages.gz, for example) were being eliminated. Not sure why this happened, but I found a similar bug report from 2010 that said it was fixed. I just changed the script to work around the issue. Give it 24 hours and let me know if there are still issues. Michael
