Hi: I have installed packages from: deb lenny http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian-Crane /

Sorry: My source is: deb http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/debian lenny-cran/
But it does not work. When you start RKward, I get the error "R backend requests information. Selection:" and shows a white box without any opcci?n to select. Any suggestions? I am very interested in the use of RKWard with lenny backport.
rkward needs to be recompiled for R 2.9, also the fix for Rdevices.h has to be made. Can you compile it from source? If so, kindly find a recent (test) version for KDE3 (assuming you are running KDE3) here: http://rkward.sourceforge.net/temp/rkward-0.4.9b-test1.tar.gz For this you'll need r-base-dev, kdelibs4-dev, automake1.9, and autotools-dev. Then the usual steps of ./configure, make, make install. You may need to use --with-r-home=/path/to/R/home with configure, if the backports' installation is not at the usual location. I would suggest using the rkward-users list for further discussion on this instead of r-sig-debian. Johannes is also part of the rkward list, so I guess he is aware of the recent thread on this issue. He might just be able to provide a deb file for this source :)
Thank you very much for supporting the backports for lenny
For lenny backports, depending on whether, KDE4 or KDE3 is being targeted, may be two versions of rkward are needed - rkward (0.4.9x) and rkward0.5.

Hi, Frankly, I don't. If you try this, I would be interested to know. It should be easy to go back to R from lenny, in case you encounter problems. So it appears you have an interest in the rkward backport for lenny-cran? Best regards, Johannes * A Griera <griera at gmail.com> [090424 20:40]:
Hello: Thank you very much for the work. Do you know if this version of R is compatible with RKWArd for lenny? Regards. GRiera. On Fri, 24 Apr 2009 19:21:37 +0200 Johannes Ranke <jranke at uni-bremen.de> wrote:
Dear all, I am happy to announce the availability of the current R version to Debian lenny (stable) and etch (oldstable) on CRAN. I am happy to announce Piet Plomb who has taken responsibility for the amd64 packages for lenny this time. This time around, we have not done rpy and rkward. It would be interesting to know if there is any interest in these backports, as I personally don't use them. For details, please refer to the Debian README on CRAN, accessible via the links "R Binaries", "Linux". Kind regards, Johannes Ranke
