You are correct, sorry. I rushed earlier to help you on the key issue, and
missed that this is indeed commented out here in my list file for apt.
Now, you can get R 4.2.0 from the usual location but selecting 20.04 aka
focal (which will run on 21.10), or, as I tweeted the day R 4.2.0 was
released, from my PPA at launchpad which also has an impish build.
