Subject: LiDAR Data Analysis in R course

Dear all,
We are excited to announce our upcoming LiDAR Data Analysis in R course, scheduled for 10-12 February 2025. This fully online, interactive training is designed to make LiDAR technology accessible to researchers across the globe, providing you with the tools to analyse complex ecosystems in ways never before possible.

Why LiDAR?
LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) has become indispensable in fields such as ecology, forestry, biodiversity conservation, and environmental monitoring. It provides unparalleled three-dimensional insights into ecosystem structures, terrain models, and habitat complexities. However, working with LiDAR data requires both a strong theoretical foundation and practical expertise in specialized software tools.

In this 12-hour course (spread over three days), we will guide you through both the theory and application of LiDAR data for ecological research using R.

Course Highlights:

 - Gain a solid understanding of LiDAR principles and its ecological applications.

 - Master the lidR package in R, learning to process point clouds, generate terrain models, and extract ecological metrics.

 - Apply advanced techniques like forest structural modeling and work with satellite-derived Canopy Height Models (CHM).

 - Participate in hands-on, practical sessions to develop a complete LiDAR data analysis workflow.

Course Schedule:
Day 1: Introduction & Basic LiDAR Data Handling (1-5 PM, Berlin Time)

Best regards,

Carlo
