Subject: Online Course – Phylogenetic Comparative Methods in R (12-16 May)

Dear all,
We are pleased to announce the online course Phylogenetic Comparative Methods in R, taking place from 12-16 May. This course is designed for advanced students, researchers, and professionals interested in generating and interpreting ultrametric phylogenies and applying phylogenetic comparative methods to study trait evolution and lineage diversification.

The course will cover both theoretical foundations and practical applications. Participants will learn how to:

Generate and analyze time-calibrated phylogenies using Bayesian inference (BEAST).

Investigate trait evolution using Brownian motion and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck models.

Explore diversification models to understand lineage evolution and mass extinctions.

Perform historical biogeography analyses with BioGeoBEARS.

Implement these methods in R, with hands-on exercises using real datasets.
Sessions will run daily from 2 to 8 PM (Berlin time), combining lectures, discussions, and practical exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to work with their own data and seek feedback from instructors.
