Global Precipitation Measurement data download

Hi Michael
http://pmm.nasa.gov/data-access/downloads/gpm

it seems that the file formats are in NETDCF, HDF5, or GIS TIFF + worldfile.

I have downloaded (needs registration) the HDF5 and GTIFF and you can access those here:

Hfd5: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2799795/3B-HHR-E.MS.MRG.3IMERG.20150801-S000000-E002959.0000.V03E.RT-H5
Tif: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2799795/3B-HHR-E.MS.MRG.3IMERG.20150812-S220000-E222959.1320.V03E.1day.tif
Tfw: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2799795/3B-HHR-E.MS.MRG.3IMERG.20150812-S220000-E222959.1320.V03E.1day.tif

The NETCDF requires specification of time period and lower left and upper right coordinates of a region. No web service seems to exist to do that. Also I failed to specify valid time period and region and gave up on this one.

The hdf5 file was downloaded from:

ftp://jsimpson.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/NRTPUB/imerg/early/201508/3B-HHR-E.MS.MRG.3IMERG.20150801-S000000-E002959.0000.V03E.RT-H5

Some other ftp servers can be found on

http://pmm.nasa.gov/data-access/data-sources#midador

Some mirrors seems to exist as mentioned on the homepage above:

http://www.opendap.org/ (supports THREDDS and SOAP and have API for jave and C++)
http://pmm-dev.pps.eosdis.nasa.gov/data-access/data-sources#midador (
http://pmm.nasa.gov/data-access/data-sources#TOVAS

Hope this helps.

Yours sincerely / Med venlig hilsen

It is the gaping hole in all this work we are doing.

Please specify a source and some actual examples of files you want for me
to try.

Within limits, we can configure a new source into our synchronization tools
and they essentially mirror a file set from some source, using wget, curl,
or some custom wrapper (NASA ocean colour is an example). It's not really
ready for public consumption but it's working well for us and it's easy
enough to set up.

Cheers, Mike.
