re. Creating random (but believable) geographies

using names of disease vectors to generate prefix/suffixes (mosquito,
nematode .....)? Can then use family, genus, species etc already nicely
arranged into different strata?

I just tried using emacs' 'dissociated press'  function to chop up UK
county names to produce names of possible new fictional counties. It
combined 'Hereford' with 'Suffolk' to produce 'Hereffolk', for
example. It also combined something with Yorkshire to create
"Dorkshire".
