ANN: Europe and its Regions Conference

I've been asked to circulate a call for papers for a meeting in Berlin 30
June and 1 July on "Europe and its Regions: The Usage of European
Regionalized Social Science Data" by Wenzel Matiaske:

"I'm writing you as maintainer of the R spatial projects. We - Gerd
Groezinger, Katharina Spiess and myself are organising a conference
entitled: "Europe and its Regions: The Usage of European Regionalized
Social Science Data" (6/30/06 and 7/1/06 DIW Berlin). The conference
should inform about data sets, applications and specialized methods for
regionalized data.

Actually we are missing the last point: We have no contributions on
methods or software packages in the area to spatial data analysis.  I am
writing to ask if you would circulate our call for papers and this mail to
R-sig-Geo to encourage proposals in methods or software packages;
particularly we are interested in an overview paper on R spatial projects
and other software projects.

In ignorance of the deadline mentioned in our call for papers, proposals
(max. 1 page) should be send in until the 31st of January."

I thought it worth passing this on because there are probably a number of 
social science researchers using European regional data on the list, who 
might feel like taking up the challenge of presenting how R and these 
kinds of data might work together. I've put the CFP on:
