R / ArcGIS

Hi Roger. nice that you mention the temporal GIS framework for GRASS GIS 7. Sorry for my rude question, i am curious how is this related to R and ArcGIS?
Good question! The space-time field is developing so fast that it seems helpful to encourage contacts between all working on issues of representation and implementation, as well as analysis like Cressie & Wikle (2011). This may make it easier later on, when users get confused about things not integrating well. Your GRASS work using Python may give ideas to others using Python, for example. It would be great, looking forward, for the R spacetime package to integrate well with the GRASS temporal implementation and anything that might emerge from ESRI, and for example Terralib. Does that make sense? Roger

Hi, I might succeed meeting with some ESRI / ArcGIS folks at AAG next week; I'm in touch with them in particular about linking R to ArcGIS.

I would like to find out if any of you has been successful (or unsuccessful) in reading or writing ArcGIS geodatabase files directly from R, by using the rgdal driver, or by some other means. Another issue is reading/writing spatio-temporal features ?(netcdf does spatio-temporal grids/arrays pretty well it seems); rumours go that ArcGIS might, in the near future, support reading/writing SpatiaLite. With best regards,
