install rgdal error on Ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
Hi Tim, Presumably you don't have GDAL installed - which you need for rgdal to build from source on Linux. (On Windows the binary rgdal comes packaged with all the required dependencies, because of substantial efforts by the rgdal and R maintainers. ) There is a readme in the source package for rgdal in rgdal\inst\README Cheers, Mike.
