does that brew command require an rgdal 'formula' somewhere? I cant find one here: https://github.com/mxcl/homebrew/blob/master/Library/Formula
You want rgdal from brew, and then rgdal from CRAN.
I assume you mean gdal from brew? That's what I installed.

Following gdal, I also need GRASS 7.0 - I couldn't find a recipe for GRASSx - do you know if there is one? Otherwise I would just try my luck and write my first one...
