There is a better distribution of linux to get the best performance of R, GRASS.. etc?
The mac OS gradually introduced me to unix, and now I run Ubuntu. I don't know how I ever lived without it. You have to be willing to tinker, but it will get you where/and well beyond where you need to be. my 2 pennies, Stephen

Completely agreed. I installed Linux (at that time OpenSuSE, now Ubuntu) on a new partition on my HDD, and after about 6 months, I realised that I haven't used Windows at all - and the partition was gone. Cheers, Rainer

Hi all. I am thinking in start using Linux slowly while I stop using Windows.
