Erin, for an example try: library(gstat) demo(snow) https://r-forge.r-project.org/scm/viewvc.php/pkg/demo/snow.R?view=markup&revision=89&root=gstat contains an update of it, using parallel. The script parallelizes the prediction step, and so only helps if that is the bottle neck.
