[R-gui] Error running New version (1.7-4) of the JGR R Console

I have just installed successfully version 1.7-4 of JGR, but when I run 
it I get the following

Loading required package: iplots
Error in dyn.load(file, DLLpath = DLLpath, ...) :
unable to load shared object 
'/usr/local/R-2.12.0/library/tool/libs/tools.so':
/usr/local/R-2.12.0/library/tools/libs/tools.so: undefined symbol: 
R_NaString

Error: could not find function ".getModels"
Error: could not find function ".getDataObjects"
Error: could not find function ".getOtherObjects"
Error: could not find function ".getFunctionsInWS"
which repeats ad infinitum

/usr/local/R-2.12.0/library/tools/libs/tools.so does exist

Can anyone offer any suggestions for further diagnosing or fixing this?
