I am pleased to announce that RGtk2 (version 2.8.5) is now on CRAN. Currently it is only the source package, but I am hoping that the CRAN maintainers will put the Windows version up there soon. Also, unless any major issues arise, this is probably the last release of the 2.8.x series. Development has already progressed to the 2.9.x/2.10.x series which will bind to the GTK/GDK/GdkPixbuf 2.10.x, ATK 1.12.x, Pango 1.14.x, and cairo 1.2.x API's. Thanks for your interest, Michael

Hope too -- within the next 24 hours on CRAN. Due to the Windows binary package maintainer was travelling, he was not able to fix a little bug that caused a hang up of the build process since June 22nd. Uwe Ligges
