Hello,
the built-in editor of the R GUI does not seem to be able to replace
a pattern only within selected text ("Replace all" under the "Find"
option changes all the matched patterns within the document). Is
there a solution to this?

Submit a patch, or use a different editor, or avoid Replace All. Duncan Murdoch
