Dear John,
I'm trying to find out this. I'm not the developer of syn and there is lack
of documentation.
What I've found is:
One can attach programs, batch commands and active scripts(VB, JavaScript,
Perl, Python etc)
to a toolbar buttons by
Tools>Configure>...
or
Run>Run File>Configure...
At least I've done this with latex and Acrobat Reader

I've taken a look at this editor, and it seems very nice. I've also looked
quickly at the documentation, but wasn't able to figure out whether it's
possible to run the syn editor with an interactive R session, sending
selected text to be executed (in the manner of WinEdt or ESS). Is that
possible? If so, can you explain briefly how it's done?
