problems installing packages since upgrade to 2.4.1

This looks like a problem with the mirror - did you try another CRAN mirror? If in doubt, a good test is to try the master CRAN repository...
The version of rgl is also a couple of releases out of date, but I see that's what is currently on CRAN as the MacOSX binary. The problem is that the examples in rgl won't run without an X11 server. Could you special case rgl, so it gets built? Duncan Murdoch
