library(akima) and libncurses

Thanks. Yes, this is a recurring mistake, due to the idiotic naming  
that fink
once had. Adding a softlink

sudo ln -s libncurses.5.0.3.dylib libncurses.dylib.5

in /sw/lib probably solves the problem. I will add the softlink to to  
next
update (and recompile akima)

Jan,

A colleague of mine has a freshly installed R 1.7.0 from your website,  
with a freshly installed Apple X11. She had not installed fink.

library(akima) failed with an error message "missing  
/sw/lib/libncurses.dylib.5"

It looks like the "dylib.5" should be "5.dylib", because that is what  
is present in /sw/lib:  libncurses.5.dylib (and it is a link to  
libncurses.5.0.3.dylib)

She's exploring R and GRASS.
