Weird R-devel build problem?

Hoping Jan or someone has an idea of where this guy is coming from:

gcc -framework Carbon -mdynamic-no-pic -L/usr/local/lib -o R.bin  
Rmain.o  -L../../lib -lR
ld: /usr/lib/gcc/darwin/3.3/libgcc.a(_fixunsdfdi.o) illegal reference 
to symbol: ___floatdidf defined in indirectly referenced dynamic 
library /usr/local/lib/libgcc_s.1.0.dylib

AFAIK floatdidf is defined in libSystem (which should be automagically 
linked). This is a clean build from today's checkout (though its been 
stuck here for a while---I just haven't had a chance to fix things)
