A step-by-step guide to build R and hence the packages can be found on 
http://www.economia.unimi.it/R or in the FAQ of R for Mac OS X.

To understand what's really failing try, to download the Hmisc package 
from source on your HD.
then from the shell type
R CMD INSTALL Hmisc
