Gui problems

thanks for the response.

Do you have an .RData file? I have seen this happening after saving
the 
R
workspace while using tcl/tk and restarting R without restarting X11

first.

Actually I always used the GUI-version and never the X11. I only use X11
now so I can continue my work.
Nevertheless R won't start up after starting X11.

You won't see anything ever appear on the RConsole window.

That's exactly what happens (or unfortunately not happens).
