I am trying to compile R 2.7.2 from source and running the ./configure
command ends with

configure: error: --with-x=yes (default) and X11 headers/libs are not available

I have found out that apple X11 is broken but I can not figure out how
to fix it.

thanks

Do you have X11 installed? It should be in Applications/Utilities, if
I recall. If not, you will need to install it from your original
install disk. I just can't remember when apple started including X11
in the basic installation.

after a day of fooling around with this I had to install X11 SDK
within the Xcode tools. I am getting close to getting making the file
and I am sure that there will be some sort of hang up, but you'll
will hear about it. thanks for the help
