accessing older versions of R and Bioconductor libraries

Yep. If you download the non-installer version of 2.6 from  
r.research.att.com you should be able to drop that folder structure  
right into your existing setup. Rswitch will take it from there.

Likewise you can always compile older versions and not hammer the  
existing stuff, though I forget what commands (if any) are  
necessary for that at the moment. That information shouldn't be too  
hard to find, at any rate.
