X11 on Macintosh Tiger 10.4.11 not responding properly for R Commander, I think

Dear DHines, It looks to me as if there's some problem with your X11 installation. What happens if you try to start X11 independently of R -- e.g., by entering xterm in a (bash) terminal? I'm copying this response to Rob Goedman since he's much more knowledgeable about these matters than I am. I hope this helps, John

properly
for R Commander, I think I installed R.app ok, it comes up when I click on the fat R. But, when i follow the directions of R Commander Installation Notes < socserv.mcmaster.ca/jfox/Misc/Rcmdr/installation-notes.html>, When I bring up X11 from the R Console, it just makes my screen all a pattern without form. I can escape it using command-option A, but that does not seem to help me get R Commander to work. Any suggestions woulld be appreciated. DHines [[alternative HTML version deleted]]
