TinnR for Mac

Hello. From what I can tell TinnR is only available for Windows. What is the editor of choice for Mac users?

Thanks!

I haven't found an ideal answer to that. I'm not an Emacs user (I
prefer vim but not for R - don't even know if it's possible).

I've been using TeXShop with the Sweave interface. It took minor
tweaks to get it running, and in some senses, it helps to have the
commands I want to run stored in a text document - and learning LaTeX
was pretty quick for the simple documents I produce.

Some of the capabilities I see written about in books like http://www.amazon.com/Beginners-Guide-Use-Alain-Zuur/dp/0387938362/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1271299327&sr=1-1
this one *almost* make me want to use Windows *shudders*.

There are many more experienced voices on this list than mine, though.

It certainly is.
And lots of past contributions: did either of you look in the list
archives as suggested in the posting guide?

Just to add to this, as I came across this yesterday evening.
In the past Smultron was quite often recommend as an editor.
However the author of Smultron, Peter Borg, has stopped the development,
but a fork of it named 'Fraise' has continued the project.
You can get Fraise from http://mac-free.com/download/Fraise.html

Regards

Markus

Jason,

For speed and ease, the built in one that comes with the Mac GUI works pretty well, and is worth getting a bit of experience with. It has some limitations, but the integration with the Console (ie Command-Enter execution) is really nice and just works!

cheers

You will find people use an array of tools. Some find the built in
editor great. A mac-only text editor that is pretty amazing (but
non-free) is Textmate, used by quite a few power users. You might
want to spend some time looking into that one. I use Emacs myself
(which exists in a more Mac-like incarnation as Aquamacs, which I
don't use). Besides the fact the Emacs is amazing, if you are doing a
lot of development on multiple platforms you might consider switching
to a cross-platform solution. Finally, I guess you could run tinnR in
a virtual machine.
