Sorry to keep asking dumb questions about using OS X but I have not been able to decide what the combination of shortcut keys for the "Hide Others" GUI selection is. I know that "Hide Application" is Apple-H but I don't know what modifier key is represented by that backwards 7 symbol that is to be chorded with Apple-H for "Hide Others".
What are the modifier keys for "Hide Others"

That's the "option" key (aka "alt" key). Interestingly enough the symbol used there is printed as such on some keyboards (e.g. the German version of the Apple keyboard), but it's not on the US version. Don't ask me why :). Cheers, Simon

Ours is not to reason why :-) Thanks. I thought that I had tried that but apparently I hadn't. Switching keyboards and operating systems often leaves one trying these hand-cramping multi-modifier-key combinations seemingly at random.
