Update R-1.7.0 package:

1: I accidentally made the previous version relocatable, which means 
you had
to choose where to install it. That's just asking for trouble. The new 
version just
chooses / for you.

2. Updated various CRAN packages, for instance XML (which requires some
hacking). Haven't done RODBC and gstat yet, which also require extra 
attention.
