Opening R on leopard
3 messages · christine english, Peter Dalgaard, Simon Urbanek
I'm afraid that Power PC support went out when Simon's build system died. CRAN says that "This binary distribution of R and the GUI supports Intel (32-bit and 64-bit) based Macs on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and 10.7 (Lion)." Notice "Intel based". Versions up to 2.15.0 are in the "old" subdirectory. I'm not sure which one was the last to support PPC. -Peter D.

Dear R-sig-mac: Hi! Can someone Please help me. I have downloaded R-2.15,1-signed.pkg onto my emac desktop (2001) w/ OS 10.5.8 leopard. I am not a tech savy person (yet-I want to learn) and do not what to do to coax the program to open. Double clicking R gets an instant message-R is not supported on this framework. According to the specs, that should not be so. Can you please help? I am using the application for a statitiscs course (COURSERA-Lecturer Prof. Andrew Conway-Princeton). Thank you Christine English [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

R 2.15.0 is the last release that supports PowerPC but updated packages for the 2.15 branch don't. Therefore I'd say 2.14.2 is the last R version that supports PowerPC including packages. Cheers, Simon
