Use BBsolve in the BB package. It'll do darn near anything. Carl
Just wanted to say thanks to all suggestions. My code works fine now *_0 Carl
Query: what package is Reduce in? (per GG's suggestion to use it) thanks Carl
Sorry, but your professor offered me $500 NOT to do your assignments.
Many thanks to all the suggestions and code bits provided. And special thanks to Jose for the script and the JWalker tool. I'm happy now ;-} Carl
Anyone know what's up w/ tolstoi.newcast.edu.au (home of the threaded R-help archives)? I've got a "can't connect" for several days now. Carl
More important question: can us non-attendees buy one? I made myself a "UseR" t-shirt a couple yrs ago and wouldn't mind adding to my collection.
The next week's New Yorker has some decent rebuttal letters. The case is hardly as clear-cut as the author would like to believe. Carl
The problem is clear: you failed to follow proper intarweb protocol in your Subject: line. It should read [R] Need help for EM algorithm ASAP !!!111 ONE ONE ONE LOL
With all due respect to those of us (including me) who love R, when it comes to audio processing w/ freeware, Audacity FTW. 'nuff said Carl -- ----- Sent from my Cray XK6
I have to admit I don't fully understand how MatLab's step() function works, but I'm learning that part. Can someone point me to equivalent&related functions in R? thanks Carl
You might also want to look at the ImageJ application, http://rsb.info.nih.gov/ij/ which IIRC has a bunch of tools designed to pick out clusters, dots, etc. Carl
Have you tried opening your stuff in OpenOffice? Often that converts files better than M$oft Word. And you can save an OO.o document in .doc (and I believe .docx) format.

Just jumping to conclusions since the site is down as I type (7PM EST). What's the news from that part of Australia -- thus showing my complete ignorance of DownUnder geography.
Not sure exactly what capabilities you're looking for. Just thought I'd put in a plug for a pretty decent, and free open source, app for generating the sheet music pages themselves. http://lilypond.org/ Carl
Love the page. Just out of interest, is this an updated version or the same ol' Inferno document? And why do I keep thinking you (Patrick Burns) are the Hab's coach? :-) -- ----- Sent from my Cray XK6
Or use this handy-dandy function: smode<-function(x){ xtab<-table(x) modes<-xtab[max(xtab)==xtab] mag<-as.numeric(modes[1]) #in case mult. modes, this is safer themodes<-names(modes) mout<-list(themodes=themodes,modeval=mag) return(mout) }
Hey, Many thanks to all who responded! I'll pass along the links to my pals. Personally I can't imagine doing R on a virtual keyboard in the first place, but to each his own. Carl
Before you pick out a palette: you are aware that their are several different types of color-blindness, aren't you? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_blind -- Sent from my Cray XK6 "Pendeo-navem mei anguillae plena est."
