env() statement
I'm too busy to post all the details, but I *believe* that for people who are struggling with the env() command in Doug Bates' book draft code, that replacing env(x)$y with x at re@y will in general work -- e.g. fm1 at re@Zt rather than env(fm1)$Zt I'm not sure of this -- you should check the results against the PDFs online -- but it may get you through.
